Transfer Citi ThankYou Points to Cathay Pacific and Earn a 15% Bonus

One of the best benefits of the Citi ThankYou rewards program is being able to transfer points to one of 15 airline partners. Right now there is a limited time offer to receive a 15 percent bonus when transferring Citi ThankYou points to Cathay Pacific’s Asia Miles program.

Citi ThankYou Transfer Bonus to Cathay Pacific

From time to time, issuers like Citibank offer bonuses when you transfer points to specific partners. Between now and July 4, 2018, you will receive a 15 percent transfer bonus to Cathay Pacific with your Citi ThankYou Points.

The minimum transfer is 1,000 Citi ThankYou points and the transfers must be in 1,000-point increments. For every 1,000 Citi ThankYou points that you transfer to Cathay Pacific’s Asia Miles program, you will receive 1,150 Asia Miles.

The transfers must be completed by 11:59 pm Eastern on July 4, 2018. Citi’s website warns you that transfers can take up to 14 days, but most transfers happen within 24 hours. You should transfer sooner rather than later so you can be sure you don’t miss out on these bonus miles.

Cathay Pacific Transfer Partners

Citibank is not the only transfer partner of Cathay Pacific. You can also transfer points on a 1:1 basis from American Express Membership Rewards and from the hotel loyalty program Starwood Preferred Guest (aka SPG).

There are many ways to earn American Express Membership Rewards points, but my favorite is the American Express Platinum card.

The American Express SPG card is also a great option, but since their current sign-up bonus is cash instead of points, I’d recommend getting the Chase Marriott credit card for the 100,000-point bonus and converting them at a 3:1 ratio into 35,000 SPG points after hitting the minimum spend.

Beyond transferring points to Cathay Pacific, you can now apply for the Cathay Pacific credit card to earn miles directly with the Asia Miles program.

What Can You Do With Cathay Pacific Miles?

Cathay Pacific offers one of the best experiences flying from the U.S. to Asia with gourmet meals and attentive service that sets them apart from the competition. Cathay Pacific has been on my bucket list of flying experiences for years, and I might take advantage of this promotion to finally cross it off my list.

You can fly non-stop to Asia from eight North American gateways: Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Boston and New York (JFK and EWR) on Boeing’s 777-300ER. There are six First Class Suites that will make the envy of all of your friends. And Business Class seating is plentiful with 53 seats in a herringbone configuration on every flight.

Since Cathay Pacific isn’t a domestic airline that most of us are familiar with, we set up an easy guide to help you find Cathay Pacific award space so you can redeem your miles for an amazing flight experience.
