Frequent Flyers Getting More From Expedia

Expedia has developed some new tools designed to shed light on hidden fees. The new technology also lets Expedia quickly relay peoples frequent flyer account information directly to the airline before the sale is complete.

What is in it for you? A lot actually. It means that the airline will then be able to seamlessly send Expedia the information they need to display your status-eligible seats in real time on their seat map which is a pretty sweet feature.

Hidden fees be gone

Upgrade Options is Expedia’s most publicized new tool. It lets people see what is and what is not included in their ticket. In a nut shell, they will list all the fees associated with your ticket, whether it’s how much you have to pay when canceling a flight or how much an extra bag will cost you when checking in at the airport.

This feature gives travelers the low down on the perks that come along with their ticket as well, so they let you know if you get free WiFi, snacks or beverages. It will also let you known how much it will cost to upgrade your seat.

Expedia introduces new tools for customers

Their new Baggage Calculator option does just what you think it does, but also gives you information on each carrier’s baggage policies for particular flights, which can come in handy. And then there is the Paid Seating Option, letting you buy premium seats via their seat map which debuted at the end of the year.

Back to the Future Expedia Style

It can be hard to predict when is the best time to book a flight, but Expedia is trying to help travelers out by developing two additional tools called – Price Trends and Price Predictions. Each one is designed to give you a leg up when shopping for tickets. For instance Price Trends would use the data they collect to give you a look at the trends in ticket prices over a two-week period, and Price Predictions will go one step further by predicting the best times to buy tickets to certain destinations.
