Members of Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan will be able to check their first bag at no charge when they travel with the airline before January 31. This is a savings of $25. The offer is good on flights marketed by Alaska Airlines, including those operated by Horizon Air, SkyWest and PenAir.
Alaska Airlines also offers a 20-minute bag guarantee: if your luggage isn’t ready to be picked up at baggage claim within 20 minutes of your flight’s arrival, you’ll get a code redeemable for a $25 discount on your next Alaska Airlines flight or 2,500 bonus miles. See a customer service agent within two hours of your flight’s arrival to claim your voucher.
The fine print: Mileage Plan members and their traveling companions who are on the same reservation will be able to check their first bags free as long as one active Mileage Plan member is in the reservation at check-in. Flight miles must be credited to Mileage Plan to be eligible. If your reservation is made through group booking codes or through the group desk, only the Mileage Plan member will get a free checked bag. If you already get a free checked bag through another offer or promo, this offer does not apply. The standard charge to check a second bag is $25. Bags must weigh a maximum of 50 pounds and be less than 63 linear inches (length plus height plus width) or an additional charge will apply.
