Bop Design Markets Your Business With a Plan

To survive in the business world nowadays, you need a strong brand.

Companies like Bop Design get the wheels in motion. Bop Design is a marketing agency focused on branding, website design and content marketing strictly for B2B companies that are serious about growth and expansion.

Jeremy Durant is the cofounder and business principal of the agency. He talked to RewardExpert about working with B2B clients who aim to build brand awareness and generate more sales-ready leads from their website, as well as through leadership content.

Coming from California

Bop Design was founded in late 2008 by Durant and his wife and business partner, Kara Jensen — who serves as the creative principal in the agency — as a San Diego and Orange County-based website design firm. But then business evolved and the company became more than just a marketing organization from southern California.

“We founded Bop Design because we felt that B2B companies were sorely under-served in the marketplace — especially small to mid-market B2B companies,” Durant said. “We also felt that most marketing agencies did not focus on what marketing should always be focused on: lead generation.”

The focus became on the clients and improving their businesses by helping them do their jobs more effectively. That included giving them the tools to nurture a lead from a general inquiry, turning that into a qualified lead and eventually a long-term relationship.

A ‘Holistic Approach’

The tactics used in B2C business marketing don’t always work, the company says, which is why it appreciates how B2B marketing works with a longer sales cycle, multiple decision makers, higher priced items or services, a longer term partnership, etc.

Durant calls it a “holistic approach” that combines compelling brand messaging and positioning with cutting edge website design, followed by a content marketing strategy that involves SEO utilization, content promotion and digital advertising to generate ideal leads.

“If you are a B2B company and you want to generate qualified, inbound sales opportunities, there is no better choice,” he said.

Advice and Future Goals

Usually, upstart businesses don’t have the capital to become big players. That’s a reality, Durant said, and it allows such businesses to plan their time accordingly — notably handling the marketing aspects and other business-related tasks without any help.

But as business grows in an upward direction, that’s when marketing agencies come into play.

“As your company grows, it is in your best interest to outsource work to experts — whether it is marketing, copywriting, accounting, etc.,” he said. “Your time will become more and more valuable, so focus the bulk of your time on what you do best and outsource the rest. Everyone has 24 hours every day; maximizing your time is critical.”

Bop Design aims to stay “staunchly boutique,” remaining small and disciplined in relation to the types of projects and clients they take on.

“We only want to take on projects where we know we will deliver value and the client will be happy with the results,” Durant said. “We want to expand globally to where B2B companies around the world find us and we help them grow.”
