Chase Ink Cash Credit Card Review

icon-comments Comments

Who Is the Chase Ink Cash Credit Card Good For?

Chase Ink Cash is a no-fee card designed for small businesses. It’s a great card for what it does, and can serve as an excellent introduction to Ultimate Rewards, which is a fantastic travel reward program.

Chase Ink Cash offers a generous earning scheme, good sign-up bonus and some perks that might make you confuse it for a premium credit card. However, unlike the premium Ultimate Rewards credit cards you won’t be able to transfer your points to the Chase partner airlines or get 20 percent more for redeeming points on travel. You will need a premium card for that — either the Chase Sapphire Preferred card or Chase Ink Plus, another Ultimate Rewards business card. Chase Ink Cash is more of a cash back card than a travel-oriented product.

AIRLINE TRANSFER PARTNERS:BRITISH AIRWARS
ANNUAL FEE:NONE
APR:13,24%
RECOMMENDED CREDIT SCORE:N/A
TYPE OF CARD:VISA
ISSUER:CHASE

Sign-Up Bonus:

The current sign-up bonus is $200 after you spend $3,000 in the first three months. Historically, there have been higher $300 bonuses for this card.

Points Earned:

  • 5 points per dollar on office supply stores and phone, Internet and cable TV payments, up to $25,000 per year
  • 2 points per dollar on gas stations and restaurants, up to $25,000 per year
  • 1 point per dollar on all other purchases

What Do Your Points Get You?

There are several ways you can use the Chase Ultimate Rewards points. If you simply want cash, you can redeem them for the statement credit at one cent per point, and you will get the same rate if you redeem your points for a gift card.

You can also book travel on the Ultimate Rewards travel website. You can book anything, from car rentals to cruises. You won’t be able to get 25% credit for booking on the Ultimate Rewards website, or transfer your points to a Chase partner airline, unless you already have a premium Chase UR card.

Usage Perks:

  • No annual fee
  • Decent sign up bonus
  • Excellent earning scheme
  • Easy to redeem for cash (statement credit)
  • The points don’t expire as long as you have a Chase Ultimate Rewards card

Usage Quirks

  • The highest bonus categories are capped at $25,000 per year
  • No ability to transfer points to the partner airlines

How Far Do Your Points Go?

Your points go as far as one cent per point. It wouldn’t make a lot of sense to use your points on the Ultimate Rewards travel site, unless you find a great deal. However, if you are planning to apply for a premium Chase Ultimate Rewards card, such as Sapphire Preferred or Ink Plus in the near future, you should wait until you’re able to use the points for airline transfer, which can offer you a much higher value.

Additional Cardholder Benefits:

  • Purchase protection
  • Extended warranty protection
  • Travel accident insurance
  • Travel and emergency assistance services
  • Auto rental collision damage waiver
  • Baggage delay insurance
  • Lost luggage reimbursement
  • No foreign transaction fees
