U.S. Bank FlexPerks® Select+ Credit Card
The U.S. Bank FlexPerks Select+ American Express may not be the most rewarding card available, but it’s not bad for a no annual fee card. It offers a 10,000 points sign-up bonus, and each point can be worth as much as two cents each when redeemed for award flights.
Unfortunately, you need at least 20,000 points to redeem, which means you’ll have to spend $10,000 before you can get a free flight. That’s because there are no bonus categories and every dollar spent on the card earns just one point.
If you’re looking for a card that offers fairly valuable reward options and more than one cent per point in value, this card is an okay option, especially considering that there’s no annual fee. However, there may be a better card for you, depending on what types of purchases you make and how much you spend.

What is CPM and How Is It Calculated?
Cents Per Mile (CPM) is a way to measure the value of miles or points. It tells you how many cents you get for each mile or point you redeem by dividing the cash price of the airline ticket by the number of miles or points the award flight costs. That amount is multiplied by the number of miles or points earned per dollar spent on everyday purchases to account for cards that earn more than one mile per dollar spent.
How we calculate CPM:
The Best Ways to Redeem US Bank FlexPerks Select+ Amex Flexpoints®
Since the value of FlexPerks points is variable, there are ways to maximize their value. However, you’ll still want to focus on flights that are relatively inexpensive in order to save points. This means that you should use your FlexPerks mostly for economy class domestic or international flights. The cheaper a flight is, the fewer points you will pay! It is also to your benefit to book when airlines are running sales.
The cost to redeem points varies depending on the price range the ticket falls into. For flights up to $400, award seats cost 20,000 points. This means that the closer you can get to $400, without going over, the more value you will get from your points. The next range goes from $400.01 to $600 and costs 30,000 points.

- Most people who are approved for the FlexPerks Select+ card report having a credit score of 700 or higher. Keep in mind that no matter what your credit score is, your entire application will be evaluated before you are approved or denied for the card.
- If you want to get the maximum value from your points, you should redeem them for airfare. You should also redeem for tickets that are close to the top of the redemption range. For example, the lowest redemption is 20,000 points for any airfare up to $400. If your flight costs only $100, it will still cost you 20,000 points, so you should redeem for a flight that costs closer to the $400 maximum.
Are the points earned with the FlexPerks Select+ Amex the same as the points earned with the Travel Rewards Visa card?Yes. The FlexPerks points earned from both of these cards operate in the same way and with the same redemption options.
The sign-up bonus for the U.S. Bank FlexPerks Select+ card doesn’t change very often. If you are considering getting this card, it probably doesn’t make sense to wait for a higher bonus.

Other FlexPerks cards
Before you set your mind on the FlexPerks Select+ Amex card, it’s worth comparing it to other credit cards that earn FlexPerks, including the FlexPerks Business Edge, FlexPerks Gold and FlexPerks Travel Rewards Visa.

|Second Year Value||$358||$358||$358||$358|
Since all of these cards are part of the FlexPerks program, they offer the same redemption options. The differences between these cards are the sign-up bonuses, annual fees and rewards for everyday spending.
The FlexPerks Business Edge card offers a 25,000 points sign-up bonus and a $55 annual fee. The Business Edge earns three points per dollar for charitable donations through the end of 2017 (and two points after that), plus two points per dollar for mobile phone service and airfare, and at gas stations and office supply stores.
The FlexPerks Gold American Express card offers a 30,000 points sign-up bonus and has an $85 annual fee. The FlexPerks Gold earns three points per dollar at restaurants and two points per dollar for gas and airfare. The FlexPerks Travel Rewards Visa offers 25,000 points for the sign-up bonus and has a $49 annual fee with the same bonus spending categories as the Business Edge card.
When deciding which of these cards makes the most sense for you, consider how much you would spend in the various bonus categories to see how many points you would earn.
