Capital One Spark Miles for Business Credit Card Review

Who Is the Capital One Spark Miles for Business Card Good For?

Capital One has made a name for itself among consumers with splashy, celebrity-filled ads, but marketing isn’t the only way the company pushes the envelope. Capital One is constantly creating new credit card offers and reward programs, each with more perks than the last.

While Capital One has appealed to leisure travelers over the years with its No Hassle Rewards and Venture Miles Rewards, it has moved into business rewards cards with the Spark Miles program. Though it carries a different name, it’s got all the upsides that No Hassle Rewards users know and love.

Though the bank also has a Spark Miles Select card that sounds like a higher-level credit card it’s not as rewarding as the regular Spark Miles card, which is Capital One’s most rewarding business credit card in the Spark family of business cards.

Sign-Up Bonus:

There is a sign-up bonus of 50,000 miles credited after meeting a $4,500 minimum spend in the first three months after opening the account.

Points Earned:

What Do Your Spark Miles Get You?

The miles earned with the Capital One Spark Business card walk a line between cashback and typical travel rewards. Though they’re called miles, they aren’t really frequent flyer miles. Instead they are points redeemable for cash, gift cards or travel.

To redeem the miles for travel, book your flight, hotel or cruise, or pay for your cab or train with your credit card. Then credit your miles against the purchase once it appears on your statement. You can also call the reward booking center and have Capital One book your travel for you using your miles, so the charge never appears on your bill.

You can also transfer your miles to any of 15+ Capital One travel partners. Those partners include Accor Live Limitless, Aeromexico Club Premier, Air France KLM Flying Blue, Air Canada Aeroplan, Asia Miles, Avianca LifeMiles, British Airways Avios, Choice Hotels Choice Privileges, Emirates Skywards, Etihad Airways Etihad Guest, EVA Air Infinity MileageLands, Finnair Plus, Quantas Frequent Flyer, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, TAP Air Portugal Miles&Go, Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles, Virgin Red Virgin Points.

How Far Do Your Dollars Go?

Capital One works on a cashback or travel reimbursement-style reward system and allows transferring points to airline and hotel partner programs as well. This means the value you get with this card will depend on how you redeem earned miles.

When you choose to use miles to cover travel purchases made with the card, all redemptions are pegged to the standard one-cent-per-dollar reward rate. Since the card earns double miles for spending in all categories, each dollar you charge to the card is earning you two cents of travel.

When you transfer your miles to partner travel programs, your 2 miles earned with the Spark Miles card will be equal to 1-2 miles or points with an airline or hotel transfer partner as the transfer ratio is not always 1:1.
